Ask
for recommendations from realtors, lenders and friends. Get a list of remodelers
from the Building Industries Association. |

|
Interview
candidates regarding price, timetables, past experience, interest in your
project and credentials. |
|
3)
|
Get
the names of three recent customers. Go see the work that was completed
and ask these important questions: |
|
|
|
Was
the work done on time?
Were delays with good reason?
Did the crews conduct themselves properly?
Were the materials and workmanship as specified?
Did the firm make timely callbacks?
Was the job within the estimates?
Would the customer use the firm again? |
|
4)
|
What sort of
warranty does the company offer? Ask to see other evidence showing ample
insurance protection. |
|
5)
|
Check
the Better Business Bureau, and local or state consumer affairs offices
to make sure the company has no unresolved complaints. |
|
6)
|
Make
certain that the company you select holds all necessary licenses and permits. |
|
7)
|
Ask for
a comprehensive proposal including all specifications and quotes. You,
the homeowner, should do your own
investigation by checking references asked for and furnished by your respective
remodeler. This is a must when doing business with anyone. |
